As one person already mentioned, it's all about EGO. I believe men lie to spare their egos. When you catch a guy in a lie, you wound their ego. Before he gets caught, he thinks he's just cruising along, capable of anything, powerful, having his cake and eating it too, e.g., lying about the other women, etc. He thinks he can get away with it. Then, when you catch him, you hit his ego dead on. He is forced to face the fact that he's not invincible. But most men's egos cannot take that kind of assault, and so they just deny it. Denial is a very effective (but also potentially problematic and self-destructive) psychological coping "skill". They deny and deny and deny... to the ends of the earth... and even to the bitter end of the relationship as the case may be. But that says something about the guy and his values. He values his ego MORE than he values the relationship. Because when you get caught in a lie, you always have a choice. You can give up and apologize and choose to make amends, and in doing so you choose to be loved and love another person by hopefully making some behavior changes and mending the relationship. OR you can deny and lie continually to preserve your ego... which means that you choose to love yourself only. Who's to say which is better -- it's up to the individual whether they want to be loved by another person or they want to be right and preserve their ego and their image of themselves. Many guys claim their hearts have been broken by the women who caught them in a lie (of which they claim innocence). However, if you really examine those cases, I think you will find that often it's not their hearts that have been broken; it's their egos that have been wounded. So the law is crazy if they seriously use eye contact when the talk to kids or anyone. Clowns people that believe that is the only way to tell if soneone is being honest it's easy to lie.
