Does it annoy you when someone is lying to their self?

For instance, people claim they never want children but then changed their minds. Women do it all the time.

Or a childfree man is married to a woman who claims is childfree, but changes her mind later on. I’m childfree and I had a girlfriend who did that to me. I would never date a girl like that again. 100% childfree women for me only.

Is it pretty annoying when people lie to themselves? Is it annoying when people claim they never want children, but lie and say they do?

Yes, it can be annoying when people lie to themselves, and then proceed to complain about the very thing they won’t acknowledge. But, you admit in your first sentence that people change their mind about never wanting children- so they aren’t lying. They’re just at a newer place and time in their lives, where children are desired, whereas they weren’t before. You have the right to never change your mind re kids, but other people have the same right to want them when they once did not.

well i think that your cases are more of a change of mind.

But as far as lying to yourself……

i gotta friend that thinks he’s a ballin outta control cuz he finished school to get his Red Seal (cook/chef) and now he makes only $14 an hour !!!

he went and bought himself a brand new suv and can barely pay his rent as it is.

I think when she got older she’s realized she really wants children. It’s natural instinct… but I agree it was unfair to you if she didn’t tell you to leave……

I think people should be allowed to change their minds when they get more information and not be called a "flip flopper".

I haven’t been lying to myself in the same sence your making out. I have been lying about the fact that I cut and it wasn’t serious and I didn’t need any help for the last year and half. In the last 6 months I’ve been thinking about getting help and in last month-6 weeks I’ve actually started to get help. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao_1Pamt7XyO8PrWOhLcUvbsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081021133902AADjPLD help me?

I would think that chidfree meant you had no children, not that you didn’t want them, just from a grammatical standpoint if nothing else. Are you really so perfect that you’ve never made a decision based on your situation at the time and the facts you had on hand, only to change your mind later on when your situation changed or you learned knew facts?

The decision to have or not have children is a very emotional one. It’s not unusual for a person to feel that they didn’t want them at one point in their lives and then change their minds later on due to any number of reasons, including realizing that you’re approaching a time when you won’t be able to have them anymore. We also have a biological desire to procreate that’s kind of hardwired into us and is very difficult to overcome. I think you need to practice more compassion and understanding for others and realize that changing your mind doesn’t always mean that you lied, to yourself or anyone else, it just means you changed your mind.

The phrase, "Women do it all the time" says more about your prejudices and misconceptions than anything.
Why on earth would you choose to be "child free"? Why would you expect a real woman to agree with you?
Sex is great, but it was designed to pro-create, producing a child is the greatest commitment, denying your woman her right and your’s as a man to nurture the next generation., So, you do not want children
? Put a cap on it, have a vasetomy, tell your next woman the truth,

People have the right to change their mind. I thought I wanted children but have since changed my mind. I might change my mind again. And if I do, I won’t be lying to myself then and I’m not lying to myself now.

People do have the right to change their minds, don’t they? What is true today, may not necessarily be tomorrow, correct??
