McCain more than likely tries to blame his excessive blinking on the torture he went through when he was a prisoner of war. He blames everything else on that. But this is not so. Excessive blinking is a sure indication of a liar.
If it’s not enough that John McCain can’t seem to look at his opponent, Barack Obama, there are even more body language indications that tell us what his true fiber is.
John McCain is an excessive blinker. He starts blinking very rapidly whenever he is asked a question. Especially whenever he is asked one about Sarah Palin. He knows that he’s lying out of his teeth, so his body is letting us know what he’s really thinking; since he isn’t telling.
Excessive blinking is a body language sign indicating intense nervousness. McCain is nervous that America is going to figure him out. He can stop being nervous now though, because we’ve pretty much got that all taken care of. We know you’re a snake McCain.
It is also a sign of someone who feels that they are under tremendous pressure. In analysis, McCain shouldn’t feel that he is under pressure if he is not intimidated by Barack Obama. If McCain felt like the powerful maverick that he says he does, then he would feel it, and pressure/nervousness would be the last thing on his mind. The feeling of power over another brings great amounts of confidence, and not fear.
Yet another sign of a liar is someone who avoids your gaze. So as Obama continually and aggressively gazes at McCain, challenging him on his lies, McCain will not return it. Not only is this disrespectful, but it is a sure indication that McCain is feeling guilty. Guilty, because he knows, that Mr. Obama knows, that he is lying to the American public.
McCain cannot look at Obama, can’t acknowledge that he is there, and blinks when confronted by the Democratic candidate; or by a questioner.
Guilt, Fear, Shame, Stressed, Nervousness, Lying.
His body is telling us what he is not. Don’t ignore the power of body language, and don’t let McCain fool you.

Seeing as you yourself cite anxiety as a possible cause and he is speaking in front of large numbers of people why would you assume that lying is the reason for the blinking? I don’t think lying is the cause of his blinking but I tend to think the best of people and not the worst..

Hmm. Well, seeing as he was blinking when he wasn’t speaking, and therefore couldn’t have been lying, I believe your theory is full of holes. We was probably blinking because of the bright lights and dry eyes.
That’s why most people blink by the way.

you are talking about body language,but in psychology you can not make an affirmative statement without before to make a diagnosis and the clinical interview is very important,mr. mc Cain is blinking a lot,yes he is but we do not know the root of this,may be the years that he was tortured in vietnam while he was a prisoner of war, the fact is that it looks that his nervous system is affected by something,this is not a reaction of liars,the liars blink but not frequently like him.about to not stare to mr. obama,this is a sign about his personality 100% in the last debate he was trying to control it because mostly they use people in charge of the image and they know body language too.
