Sitting Body Language

As human beings we have many different ways to communicate. Although it is usually the easiest, speaking is not the most effective or telling form of communication in all situations. One of the biggest ways to read a person without words is by examining how they sit. Sitting body language is a dead giveaway of what someone is thinking or feeling.

To be able to read other people’s sitting body language, you will have to do a little research. There are many sites on the Internet that will give you great information about how to read sitting and other types of body language.

The most important thing that you can take from all of this research is that an open posture is a good sign. An open posture, with uncrossed arms and legs is a good indication because it means that the person is not “closed off” to you. The next thing that you will want to check is if the other person is leaning toward you or away from you.

If he or she is leaning in, it probably means that they are interested in what you are saying or have some type of interest in you. There are many other parts to reading sitting body language that can be learned online.

Great post. I also think that mimicking the other person’s posture and body language is a great way to build rapport, as well as their general tone of voice, just don’t overdo it or else they might think you’re a weirdo.
